You can try to improve your patience by counting to 10.

You can attempt to resist cravings, ignore, or grit your teeth and repress the urges.

You can understand, intellectually, why reactivity is a problem for you and for society, and perhaps even that there is no one here who can be reactive, or want anything to be different than it is.

And yet, you still find yourself acting out these same limited behavioral patterns, no matter how much you understand the problems they bring.

It’s because these patterns have roots which go much deeper than the intellect.

Awakening occurs when the mind becomes aware of its own conditioning, in a sense, it wakes up to its own nature. And with that awareness, paradigms can rapidly shift.

The conscious mind with all of its useful intelligence only comprises 5% of this being who is here, interacting with a complex world.

So 95% of what you take to be “you” is subconscious, operating in secrecy.

Its programming was created in infancy, before you even had access to language.

So how useful can language be for reprogramming these old beliefs and assumptions?

Language is the wrong tool for the job. You cannot address a pre-verbal, subconsciously-installed program with more words and concepts. You must meet it in the space where it lives: in the felt experience of the body.

If you have read all the books and watched all the videos on Awakening, but you still feel just as bound into this same limited identity, it's because Awakening hasn’t gone deeper than being just another concept in the mind.

In 2026 we will only be offering 1 online Full Week 7-Day
Deep Immersion Meditation & Inquiry Retreat.

This is why we’ve created the 7-Day

Deep Immersion Through Inquiry and

Embodiment Retreat.

This January, join us, and an intimate group of dedicated participants, for a deep-dive retreat designed to deconstruct the illusion of the separate self in its most common disguises.

Deep Immersion Meditation & Inquiry Retreat

17th January - 23rd January 2026

We will not be adding more concepts to memorize, or appealing to an intellectual understanding of Awakening. Instead, through sustained inquiry, meditation, guided breath work, and deep somatic practices, we will help you to:

•  See through the core illusions of self, control, craving, aversion, and separation, not as ideas, but as direct, embodied insights.

•  Experience everything, even the contractions and physical sensations you've been labeling as "inadequacy," "fear," "anger," "guilt," or "myself," as shifting patterns of embodied energy.

•  Allow the underlying, pre-verbal programming to arise and express itself without judgments, and without stories.

•  Find the deep interconnectedness which binds all of existence together in this wondrous, mysterious universe.

This Retreat Is For You If:

•  You feel stuck in patterns of "seeking" or conceptual understanding.

•  You want to move from intellectual belief into embodied insight.

•  You're ready to sincerely inquire into the nature of who you are.

Your intellect has brought you this far, which is wonderful. It’s time now to discover what happens when you stop experiencing the world through a veil of concepts, and come into contact with the raw immediacy of life itself.

This retreat will be the only retreat in 2026 and it will be a deep immersion into our practice.

Unlike our workshops, there will be very little discussion of theory, and a lot of time spent experimenting, inquiring, meditating, and coming back into direct contact with the actual as opposed to the mental.

All times and activities are subject to change, but the schedule will be close to this (all times are in ET):

03:00-03:40 – Silent Sit for Europe (Guest Led)
09:00-09:40 Morning Sit (Lightly Guided)
10:00-11:00 Sofa Sit Talk About the Day’s Topic
11:30-12:30 Exercises and Moving Meditations/Inquiry
12:00-15:00 Lunch
14:00-14:40 – Silent Sit (Guest Led)
15:00-15:30 Breathwork and Sit
15:30-17:30 Story-Free Q&A
18:30-19:10 – Silent Sit (Guest Led)
20:00-21:00 Guided Meditation/Inquiry

Again, details are subject to change as we get closer because we like to keep things organic and alive, but the topics of the Sofa Sits, daily inquiries and meditations will likely be about the following:

Day 1 – Seeing Through the Self (Fetter 1)
Day 2 – Seeing Through Control and Agency (Fetter 1)
Day 3 – Dissolving Craving (Fetter 4)
Day 4 – Dissolving Aversion & Reactivity (Fetter 5)
Day 5 – Investigating Our Senses (Fetters 6/7)
Day 6 – Dismantling “Reality” (Fetters 6/7)
Day 7 – Anatta & Residing in Ambiguity (Fetters 8/9/10)

This should be a fun and transformative week for everyone involved!
Of course it will be virtual, so you can interact as much or as little as you would like.
But if you can, see if you can carve out a full week to immerse as deeply into your practice as possible.
Take the time to prioritize this work.

Meditation and inquiry can have accumulating effects.
This is why retreats can be so much more powerful than just a daily sitting practice.
Every session and every day builds upon the last, integrating the insights, and deepening our concentration and relaxation. We are changing the way the system is functioning, at least for a week, but that change can have effects that ripple out in unexpected ways.

We are excited to share the time with you, and look forward to a period of deep exploration in a loving, supportive community.

See you there!

Spaces are intentionally limited to ensure a profound and intimate experience with personal attention.

The workshops and retreats are offered by donation on a sliding scale. We want to make sure that all of our offerings remain accessible for everyone.

The price for our full 7-Day Deep Immersion Retreat is:

We are very grateful and appreciative if you wish to donate more. We try to set the price so that it is possible for the majority of people to participate. The retreat price ensures that we are able to offer the other option, and even some full scholarships to those who otherwise would not be able to attend.*

You may pay here: http://paypal.me/ToddLent.

As soon as payment is confirmed, you will receive a link to the private YouTube playlist with the prerecorded meditations.

It is also here the all recordings of the Sofa Sits, inquiries and meditations will be uploaded.

You will keep your access to the playlist as long as Youtube and/or our channels exist.

Please note that once you have access to the material you can no longer receive a refund.

*If you cannot afford either the Retreat or Scholarship Levels, please email Todd at unfetteredmindfulness@gmail.com and we will work something out. We don’t want money to be a barrier for anyone.

I am not past the Fetters,
can I still participate?

Absolutely! We will be discussing and working our way through all of the Fetters from the beginning.

No matter which Fetter you seem to be working with the most, you will likely discover that aspects of multiple, if not all the Fetters are in play at different times of different days.

Everyone is welcome, and hopefully everyone will discover new insights, regardless of how far along or how new to this work they feel they are.

Note for our Neurodiverse Friends:

For those who have had difficulties meditating or participating in retreats in the past, we are fully open to you being you! If you need to stim or move during seated practice, it is absolutely okay!

This is about your practice and your experience. You are welcome to find and utilize whichever tools you need to employ to get the most out of it.

We are also here to help you discover what those tools are if you haven’t found them yet.

We are committed to making this is a safe and inclusive space for everyone!

Please reach out if you have any questions about this beforehand.

See Through The Self Delusion Course

We are so happy that there is now a full course for you to see through the identification of the self!

This course is like a practical handbook of all of the different angles that you need to be aware of when you are investigating identification in your direct experience. We hope that it will be equally useful to people who are absolute beginners on this awakening path, as it will be to seasoned seekers who believe they have seen through the sense of self and are currently working with the higher fetters. We believe that everyone will find things in the course that will help them to deepen their insights regardless of whichever stage of awakening they feel they are in.

Take your time with this course! It is quite comprehensive. Through it we will be discussing many aspects of awakening, some of which tend to be overlooked by those on the path. We stress the importance of integrating awakening into our daily lives, so we spend a lot of time helping to bridge the gap between the spiritual world and the relative mundane one in which we all live.

In this course we will go into detail about meditation practices, discerning thought from “reality”, how to approach long-held trauma, how to investigate and manage our fear of death, practices to stimulate deep non-dual insights, and how to avoid many different pitfalls and egoic traps that you might encounter on the awakening path.

For those who are familiar with our The Awakening Curriculum and Unfettered Mindfulness YouTube channels, you might have already seen many of these videos. But they have been assembled in a practical sequence that allows progressive insights and practice, and they have been expanded with 50,000 words of written summaries, extrapolations, further inquiry and meditation practices, and more. It’s effectively like having a whole book integrated into the video material. Even if you have already watched the videos, we hope that these written lessons will help to deepen and expand your understanding of the material, and provide you new directions to take your practice.

To get the most out of this course, we recommend watching each video in sequence, and taking lots of time to actively do every inquiry at least once. It can help to do the same inquiry multiple times before moving on. It’s always recommended to rewatch lessons, if not immediately, then come back to them weeks or months later to see if you now hear something that you missed the first time, or that now makes sense to you in a way that you couldn’t access previously.

It should be emphasized, you might accumulate a lot of new concepts from this course, but that will be of comparatively little benefit next to the insights that you glean from putting everything you hear into practice.

You are likely here, doing this course, in order to experience some sort of transformation of experience. But concepts have limited ability to do this. At least not in terms of creating long-term transformation.

For that, you need to have an experiential understanding of what we are pointing to. So relax, settle in, take a deep breath, and allow the experience to unfold all on its own.

No one knows what will happen on the other side of any practice. So remain curious, open, and remember to have fun.
